Shot in the Isle of Coll, Scotland.
When translated from Scottish Gaelic, the word ‘coll’ means hazel. Although there are etymologies and local theories that relate the name of the island to its root, there is no consensus on the origins of the name. Documented through the filmmaker’s perspective as a descendent of exiled Gaelic speakers of Coll, Hazel Isle explores the contained and isolated landscape of the island and the ways that it has been changed and continues to change through the people who inhabit it.
